General Information

OVERVIEW
The Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association (MAWA) is an AAU Wrestling Club in the Middle Atlantic Association of the AAU. The MAWA has also effectively served as the Wrestling Committee of the Middle Atlantic Association since its inception in 1974.

The MAWA currently provides the following wrestling services to about 11,000 folkstyle (high school style) athletes within 17 states (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina):

1. Coordinate 34 community based folkstyle district tournaments spread over the 17 state service area.

2. Coordinate and organize four regional folkstyle tournaments in which place winners in the 34 district events can compete to advance to the annual Eastern National Championships Tournament.

3. Coordinate and organize the annual Eastern National Championships Tournament at rotating locations in the 17 state service area.

4. Select and organize MAWA teams to travel to the AAU National Disney Duals in Orlando, Florida.

5. Recruit and select coaches and team leaders for these MAWA teams to travel to the AAU National Disney Duals in Orlando, Florida.

6. Arrange entry, travel and lodging for these MAWA teams to travel to the AAU National Disney Duals in Orlando, Florida.

7. Select and organize MAWA teams to travel to the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

8. Recruit and select coaches and team leaders for these MAWA teams to travel to the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

9. Arrange entry, travel and lodging for these MAWA teams to travel to the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
